The presentation of the theatrical text 'Sacrifice', which gives a voice to Muslim women who participated in the Guerra de las Alpujarras in the 16th century, will be the starting point for a debate about the role of women in armed conflicts and its right to self-defense, as well as Jihad and the concurrence of these issues in Islamic jurisprudence.
It is a theatrical piece based on the scientific paper "women and Jihad in the Iberian Peninsula. A question of honour, pride and self defence", Mª Magdalena Martínez Almira, Professor of history of law of the University of Alicante.
According to the academic calendar, the period of these examinations is on October 6 to November 28, and the completion and delivery of records, from 6 October to 19 December.
Signing of the Convention of international supervision between the Seconda Università di Napoli and the University of Alicante
Last Monday, September 29, the signing of the Convention of international supervision took place between the Seconda Università di Napoli and the University of Alicante. The University of Alicante signed the General Secretary, Dr. Aránzazu Calzada; the agreement was also signed by Professor Gian Maria Piccinelli, specialist in comparative Muslim law and Chair of the Department of policy Science Jean Monnet of the Neapolitan University and Professor Maria Magdalena Martínez Almira, Professor of history of law of the University of Alicante.
Dr. Calzada welcomed this agreement and asked to Dr. Piccinelli transmit to the rector of the Seconda Università di Napoli congratulations by this agreement.
In the framework of the agreement the Ph.d. student Gabriella di Chiara will develop their studies and research work leading to the attainment of the degree of PhD from both universities.
